Some of yall are missing that the current policy is basically pay-to-tailgate.

The free option requires you to complete your setup and clear out by 8:00A. Not impossible for serious fans, but a tall order for most.

If I've paid for a parking slot to Tailgate on game day, that just means any cars parked on that lot must be gone. What about that doesn't make sense to you?

Are you kidding me? Is this what you have been interpreting as a "nobody can get in after 8 AM" policy? Surely not? Is there more to this story than I can see here?
Good grief HD! They WILL NOT let you enter (TO UNLOAD) after 8:00AM unless you have a parking pass. I realize you think it is crazy, but that is what they've been enforcing and refused to change for years. For years we were able to pull up late morning or even after lunch, unload, and leave the parking lot.

But I'm afraid they will wear them again. They wore them in both home games so far. Not a good look.

That's like saying "All I showed them was my passport. But they have no idea whether I'm an American."

People without a parking pass are SOL after 8AM.
No, I'll repeat myself. The red pass CAME WITH THE PARKING SLOT, we all pay for. Whether you pay $1,500 per season, or $300 per game for your parking slot, they all come with RED PARKING passes. It's a package deal, folks!

We had a group of 20 that would regularly tailgate on the hill right beside the TAC sidewalk. To me, that shady area is the best area for tailgating. For my group, driving from Bastrop or Shreveport to setup the tents and grill by 8AM for a 6PM kick on a Saturday during hunting season was a no-go. Getting there by noon or 2PM would have been feasible. Ever since that season, I have dropped all season tickets and LTAC. I'll spend time at the house with my kids, parents and friends and maybe catch the game on TV.
I guess I don't understand why you had a problem with it. It's my understanding that you don't pay for that Tailgate spot. I was told it's free to Tailgate on the grass around the TAC. Is that correct? That's what I was told. If so, why should the university give you --or anyone-- a parking pass for a FREE tailgate spot?

Folks, this ain't hard stuff to understand.

Yes, you get some parking passes when you have an RV space in the designated area of the red lot which is at least a $1500 value.

NOBODY is asking for free parking

They are asking for temporary entry to a drop off spot to save a few hundred yards of lugging tables, chairs, ice chests, etc. from the car to the shady spots we had been using for years (some over 20 years).

YES -- and if you dont have one, you CANT tailgate -- not even in the grass/hill -- unless you:

    a) complete your setup before 8a, OR
    b) schlep in your tent, grill, coolers, tables, and other gear from a remote location\

These are generally unreasonable requirements for a program trying to build a fanbase. It's effectively pay to play

Correct. I guess Tech fans just have to decide if they want Tech Athletics to have those additional revenue sources or not.

    ........or $300 per game.

Or you can Tailgate in numerous FREE places and not deal with parking passes at all.

    Aaaaaand there's the elitism.

HD -- How come nobody wants to tailgate?

    BB&B -- It's either expensive or difficult.

    HD -- LOL! Poor people!

Only if you're done setting up by 8A. OR willing and able to lug several hundred pounds of gear roughly 1/2 mile.

    Re: Gameday tailgating has disappeared

Ok I have a question then. I quit tailgating some years ago when they started the whole 8am thing. The first home game this year there were probably 20 cars parked up of the grassy hill (south of TAC tailgating spot) and this was at about 11am. So I was thinking maybe the rules changed. This past week I was driving down Alabama and had to stop as someone was turning up onto the grassy hill to tailgate. This was about 10:30am. So I pulled up to the officer and the person standing at the entrance to the road that goes by Hideway park and asked can people drive up to tailgate on the south hill again after 8am. They said that there was no time limit to come in to tailgate and that there was no vehicle allowed to tailgate on the grassy area on the North side of the TAC. SO are the vehicles allowed at anytime to tailgate on south side and if not then why were there so many parked up there? Are they just not enforcing? I want to start tailgating again as I cant afford to take my family inside the stadium. After reading on here I am so confused now to if I can.
