I honestly think them and WKU might stay. They don't recruit in the MAC and this conference is actually pretty decent all things considered. If CUSA can get MO State, that should lock them in.

Being a top g5 basketball conference would be a big deal…particularly from a conference revenue standpoint.

But, basketball will always be second or third fiddle in North LA.

Some of the additions are quality baseball programs too.

All that said, it’s damning that we were not invited by the Sunbelt. It was a leadership failure.

That something has a chance to grow influence more than being in the second worst of the G5 football conference over the worst. As a sports fan in general, I will take that silver lining.

Honestly, we probably won't be the second worst conference. The MAC isn't very good, and I think this conference can surpass them in quality. Also most of the teams the AAC were added were garbage these last few years, outside of some outlier seasons and in one case completely rebooting their program so they could load up on jucos and have players with a ton of eligibility.

We need to hang around long enough to get exit fees, however we do it. Most of these schools that are leaving were sold the idea that CUSA would fold, and they wouldn't owe anything.

i can agree with all of this except the mcclelland item. That's message board fodder and nothing else.

You also didnt note that tech football beat every single sbc team it played from 2001 until the end of 2020. It took the covid year for a sbc football team to finally knock off tech. I think that's the real reason tech is where it is. A victim of our own success. Sbc ad's and presidents werent about to risk another 2 decades of football futility verus tech.
