Another thing that bothered me at my graduation was the lack of respect from the students. There were people during the ceremony texting, talking on cell phones, and talking out loud to each other. Also, some were wearing crazy sunglasses and weird hats (one was wearing a cowboy hat...not a normal one, but one of those crazy looking ones). Each of my three older brothers and sisters graduated from another university and said that the administration enforced respect by telling the graduates to refrain from all of those activities. Those that did not abide were told to leave and were not allowed to walk across the stage. If the Tech administration would become more diligent in enforcing the appropriate behavior, we would not be holding this conversation.

Amen Dawgmatic!!!!
I HATE, absolutely HATE graduations.
My Father-In-Law is legally hadicapped, can barely walk. He got into town at 12:45 and was unable to get a handicapped spot. He had to walk from Tech Drive to make it in to watch his daughter graduate. He would have been better off just staying in his car because when Amber's name was called, we couldn't hear it because some yahoo's family was still whooping and hollering from two name's earlier.
Amber was pretty upset about it, but not as much as I was.
I don't think she will be attending her commencement exercises for her master's degree.
These are huge accomplishments and a lot of money, A LOT of money is spent to send people through college and it is a shame that what is supposed to be an honorable, respectful event is ruined for so many, by a bunch of idiots!
Rant over!

The first question I had was . . . . Royal Alexander??!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Alexander
He is a graduate of LSUS with a law degree from Oklahoma Something and has a short career of doing a lot of nothing (in my opinion). I would think you could swing a dead cat and hit a Tech grad more worthy than Royal Alexander.
And then those dang whippersnappers walked on the grass and were listening to that devil music I think they call it rock & roll!
The speaker was Congressman Rodney Alexander, not Royal Alexander. Rodney did attend Louisiana Tech University though he did not graduate. I thought his speech wasn't inspiring, but at least it was shorter than I thought it would be.

I hope you are joking. Why in the hell would somebody make reservations during Commencement when you know damn good and well it is going to last at LEAST two hours if not more? I had a party planned for 60 people and managed to stay to the end. I really hope you are joking.
