Looks like they will have to do some dirt work in order to build the west side "wing" of the brick supporting structure. That outer column is already at the point where it starts sloping down towards the access road. In the artist's drawing it is all level ground under the brick structure.

Good progress is being made overall, I think. This should be done in plenty of time for the home opener.

Too right, it would be great to have the "big screen" (it brings new meaning to that term) up. I have a feeling that although it appears that we have made great progress in appearance, there probably is a lot more work than meets the eye.

Speaking of all the work required to operate that beast on another posting reminded me, anyone know what the plans are for operating that thing? I mean do they just hire a team to work it or leave a multi-million dollar screen to some professor of media education and the studs??

This may be a stupid question, but I keep wondering about it. Is there going to be a net behind the goal post so a field goal or extra point attempt doesn't hit the screen? I assume if a kicked football were to hit the screen it would break it. (the screen)

It would take a hell of a kick to hit that screen....

I've seen very few kickers hit the old board on PAT's and short field goals -

From my experience watching a HS team playing in a bigger venue with a video board, the production is very stripped down. No ads, no graphics, or stats displayed. There are usually one or two camera operators...thats about it. Looking around on the internet, found many schools and professional sports org outsource their game day video display production.

Yeah it would be nice to have a full blown professional production for the HS jamboree but I highly doubt it'll be one. I bet they'll have one or two cameras set up in the stands filming the overview of the field...which will probably be enough to excite the crowd.

The Jamb at the Joe probably wont have use of the jumbotron, I think they want to break out the new toy for Techs opener.
